ART TYPE options

Scroll through the photos to see samples of each art type.

Hand-Painted Watercolor This is a full color illustration done by hand with watercolor paint. When finished, it is then scanned and edited.

Hand-Drawn Line Art This is a single color line drawing/sketch done by hand with a stylus pen on a tablet.

Digitally Created Watercolor This is a full color rendering created with the help of various programs and then highly edited by Jenelle. (These tend to work best as stand-along items like an envelope liner, and not combined with other hand-painted watercolor elements, to avoid a style clash.)

Digitally Created Line Art This is a single color line drawing/sketch done with the help of various software to mimic a hand-drawn sketch, though it is not done by hand.

PROCESS

Process

  1. Place an order: once we receive your order, your spot in our art queue will be reserved. Spots are reserved on a first-to-pay basis.
  2. Once the illustration is finished, I will send you the first proofs through the Chat box. (Check the DESIGN TIME to see how long this process takes.)
  3. Once you give final approval, all items will be released to production and will ship upon completion of your entire order.

ART DESIGN TIME

How long it takes to create your artwork is based on type of art chosen and how many open orders we have for that kind of art. If you are concerned about the timeline, please message us to ask how long the current art queue is for that kind of art. We have several artists and each has different availability and work loads.

Queue - this is how long it takes us to create the new artwork. This is in addition to any proofing timeline estimated on your print order.

Example: If our art queue is 4 weeks, then add 4 weeks to the time quoted on your print order. So, if your print order says proofs are ready in 2-3 business days. and the new artwork queue is 4 weeks, then plan on receiving your first proofs about 4.5 weeks from when you place the order.

Hand-Painted Watercolors: Our queue is typically 3-5 weeks. Due to it's popularity and our limited availability, this queue varies the most and is always changing based on the orders we receive.

Hand-Drawn Line Art: This queue is typically about 3 weeks.

Digitally created watercolor and line drawings: This queue is typically about 1 week.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

WE NEED:

  1. One good quality reference photograph* showing the EXACT ANGLE you would like illustrated.  For the hand-done items, we'll trace the provided image to make sure we get the proportions correct.  Photo may be uploaded below.
  2. Please include any specific design requests (i.e. include the tree on the right, remove the flag and lamppost). Be as specific as you'd like so we can accurately capture your vision. Once something is painted, we can only make color tweaks, so be sure your reference photo is exactly what you want and you notify us of any changes or specific requests.

PHOTO SELECTION TIPS:

  • We cannot illustrate what we cannot see, so if the venue is cut off in the photo we'll have to cut it off on the illustration. If a large tree is blocking a significant portion of the structure, we'll need to include that tree (unless the building is symmetrical and we can clearly see the other side). Choose a photo that includes everything you want included.
  • The further out the photo is, the less detailed a hand-painted watercolor will be as we paint it at 8x10 and we can't get fine details.
  • Closer straight-on photos of venues tend to give the best art results as we do not get very detailed with background scenery/greens.
  • When selecting a photo, keep in mind it's proportion and where it will be used. For example, if you choose a narrow vertical photo and want it added to an invitation, it will be rather small in order to still accommodate all the invitation text. Horizontal images tend to work best for invitations.

*Additional note: We will not create a new illustration from someone else's art, so please only upload photographs.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out through the chat. If we're not immediately available, you'll receive an email when we reply.
